Douglas A. Behrend, Ph.D. Dr. Behrend received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1986. He has been with the University of Arkansas since 1989 and is currently the Department of Psychology chair. He is head of the Word Play lab and teaches both undergraduate and graduate psychology courses. Dr. Behrend has been conducting research in child development for over 20 years. His research interests include verb learning,selective trust in word learning, and other issues in language and cognitive development. |
Ashley S. Ransom, B.A. Ashley is in her second year in the University of Arkansas' experimental psychology graduate program. She hopes to complete her M.A. by the end of the school year and expects to receive her Ph.D. by 2012. Her research interests include children's beliefs about foreign languages, children's willingness to learn words from foreign language speakers, and children's use of word learning strategies. |
Rachel M. Schwartz, M.A. Rachel earned her M.A. from the University of Arkansas in 2007 and plans to complete her Ph.D. in 2010. Her research interests include early imitation and its impact upon word learning and social understanding, the way in which different environmental factors affect word learning, and computer-supported collaborative learning in college students. She is also currently working on a project examining false memory formation in young children. In addition to research, Rachel teaches undergraduate psychology courses. |
