The 2008 New Play Showcase
The Man Without A Country
By Larry M. Mitchell
Based on the 19th Century short story by Edward Everett Hale, and
set during our turbulent American infancy, The Man Without
a Country, is an Epic tale of America, regret, growth, and
home. Though the story is one of fiction, familiar faces and places
make the play feel all too historical, when an Army Lieutenant,
Phillip Nolan, gets mixed up with Aaron Burr and ends up on trial
for his life. Feeling betrayed by all sides, the 19 year-old Nolan
makes a mistake that will haunt him for the next 55 years in wishing
that he should never hear of the United States again. Directed

How to Get the Mango (when the lizard’s
in the way)
By Clinnesha N. Dillon
Jo Kimble, a woman caught between a cookie-cutter lifestyle and
the whims of intuition, represses her life-long dream of moving
to Africa, so she can pursue a Ph.D. at Boston State. With a grave
deadline approaching, Jo has been ordered by her enticing advisor
to isolate herself over the weekend and focus solely on her research;
but when her best friend is stressed, her god-daughter is troubled,
and her husband is back earlier-than-expected from a military assignment,
a crucial weekend becomes an intense balancing act. Reality and
fantasy unite as Jo journeys to find the sweet fruits of life.
