Spring 2003

Listening to Nature Group for Stress Reduction
Facilitators: Greg Schneller & Amy Abraham

What can Nature teach us about the mental health of daily life (managing stress, being flexible, maintaining self-control, avoiding procrastination, being tolerant, etc)? A lot! In this 8-week group, we will turn to the natural world to help us understand and practice principles of mental and emotional well-being. No special abilities are needed. Just bring an open mind and alert senses! Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.

Extenguishing the Volcano Within
Facilitators: Pornthip Chalungsooth & Cece Hilliard

What would you do if you are in a position of having the eruption of the "volcano within"? Come join us in learning how to manage your irritability and unmanageable angry feelings. We will offer an eight week support group for female students on finding satisfying solutions to that "reddish inner flame." Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Positive Body Image Support Group
Facilitators: Denise Litterer & Susan Rausch

Do you often wish that you were thinner? Do you feel guilty after eating? Do you concerns about how you look interfere with your relationships? If so, join this group for a supportive environment in which to discuss your struggles with weight and eating while learning to respect your body, eat without guilt, and feel good about yourself. Topics for discussion may include societal influences on body image, healthy eating, how to enjoy exercising, and assertiveness and self-esteem. All body shapes and sizes are welcome! Co-sponsored by CAPS and Health Promotion & Education. Wednesdays from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

...Who Happens to be Lesbian, Bi, or Gay
Facilitated by Judd Harbin

This general therapy group is for people who suffer depression, anxiety, or relationship-related strife and who happen to be lesiban, bi, or gay (LBG). This LBG-only group will provide an atmosphere where members need not worry about non-LBG members' reactions to their affectional orientation.
