Happy Saint Patrick's Day

St. Patrick
When Patrick was a teenager, before he was a saint, living in Wales (probably), he was kidnapped by the Irish and sold into slavery. After six years, an angel came to him and told him to escape. He did and walked over 200 miles until he was picked up by a boat, and he went to France. He became a monk in Marmoutier Abbey. There another angel (or possibly the same angel) visited him and told him to return to Ireland. In 432, he went to Rome where the Pope made him a Bishop and then he went back to Ireland. He explained the trinity to the King using a shamrock (three leaves). The King liked the story and told him he could spread the word. And Christianity spread throughout Ireland, replacing the Pagan beliefs and their druid priests. Patrick died on March 17, around 460 A.D.

WHEN IRISH EYES ARE SMILING

When irish eyes are smiling
Sure it's like a morning spring
In the lilt of irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing

When irish hearts are happy
All the world seems bright and gay
And when irish eyes are smiling
Sure they steal your heart away
