MFA Program
Directing
Abundant hands-on work on contemporary, classical, and original material prepares students for professional careers. Directors are guaranteed at least one departmental production per year, including a thesis production in their final year of study. The program emphasizes the collaborative nature of theatre, offering courses in both acting and design as part of the core curriculum. Training in a broad range of theories and methodologies provides directors with the knowledge and confidence to develop individual approaches to textual analysis, the formulation of production concepts, and rehearsal technique.
