Admission Requirements
Undergraduate
In addition to meeting University and College requirements, the Department of Drama encourages a personal interview/audition for scholarship eligibility. Financial aid in the form of work-study and scholarships is available to qualified students.
Graduate
In addition to meeting University and Graduate School standards, the Department of Drama requires an audition/portfolio review/script submission and interview
for acceptance into the MFA program (please see specific requirements below). Graduate assistantships in teaching and production provide tuition assistance and yearly stipends. Annual fellowships and work-study programs are also available to qualified students.
MFA ACTING PROGRAM
Admission to the MFA professional theatre training program is by audition only. Auditions should consist of two contrasting monologues (classical and contemporary) totaling no longer than five minutes. An additional sixty second song is required. Please be prepared to perform an additional classical monologue.
We regularly attend a variety of unified graduate school auditions. Auditions are held on-campus by appointment. (An accompanist is provided for all on-site auditions.) Please contact Amy Herzberg to determine the best place to hold your audition. A headshot and resume is required. You may be asked to supply a statement of purpose and three letters of recommendation.
MFA DESIGN PROGRAM
Admission into the MFA design program is by interview and portfolio review only. Interviews for upcoming academic years are held between November and March of the preceding academic year. Students are admitted in the fall semester and on special ocassions, summer semester. Interviews are held on-campus by appointment. Interviews are also scheduled at Regional ACTF festivals, SETC, USITT, and other regional conferences.
