To birdlist

Frequency data in the bird list are from Birding in the Western Arkansas Ozarks, copyright 1988 by Joseph C. Neal and Michael A Mlodinow, with permission of the authors.

A centered symbol applies to the entire month. A symbol that is shifted to the left applies to the first third of a month; a symbol that is shifted right applies to the last third of a month. Combinations of symbols are used when the frequency changes from the start of a month to the end. For example: "=c" indicates "=" at the start of a month changing to "c" at the end, and "c=" indicates "c" at the start changing to "=" and the end. Likewise for "..=", "Cc", and so on.

In the above example, the Semipalmated Sandpiper is rare at the start of April, increasing to uncommon at the end of that month. It is abundant during all of May. It is fairly common at the start of June, but is not present at the end of that month. It is not present at the start of July, but becomes common at the end of that month. The location key means that the given abundance data is for that location. It does not necessarily mean that the bird is found only at that location. But sandpipers and peeps, in particular, are most likely to be found at Centerton Fish Hatchery.
