American Avocet, Recurvirostra americana.
August 26 to November 3 and April 10 to May 20. Uncommon but regular transient. Most sightings have involved 1 or 2 birds, but occasionally small flocks are found: 19 at Lake Fayetteville on October 19, 1954; 15 at the West Sugar Loaf boat dock area on Bull Shoals Lake on April 10, 1979; 15 at Bob Kidd Lake on October 22, 1984.

Willet, Catoptrophorus semipalmatus.
April 19 to May 17 and two fall records, July 17 and August 29. Uncommon but fairly regular transient in spring. Most sightings have involved low numbers of these birds. High counts include 38 at Lake Sequoyah near Fayetteville on April 27, 1981, 32 on a gravel bar in the Buffalo River near Rush on April 29, 1979; 50 at Lake Wedington April 24, 1986. Open edges of lakes seem to provide suitable stopping places for these birds.

Greater Yellowlegs, Tringa melanoleuca.
July 1 to November 16 and March 11 to June 4. Fairly common transient observed in small numbers. A flock of 15 was at the state fish hatchery in Benton County on October 21, 1984.

Lesser Yellowlegs, Tringa flavipes.
June 28 to November 16 and March 13 to June 4. Common transient. There are several records involving flocks of 40 or more of these birds and "several hundred" were at Lake Sequoyah on May 9, 1960.
