Rare transient. Two fall records: September 3, 1973, in Marion County anc: October 9-18, 1983, at the state fish hatchery. There are five records for the northward migration period. Each sighting involved 1 or 2 birds in breeding plumage at the hatchery: June 4, 1982, May 28, 1984, May 23, 1985, May 18 and May 26, 1986.

Red Knot, Calidris canutus.
Written dccumentation was placed in thc Arkansas Audubon Society file fcr a single bird seen by a number of observers at Lake Sequoyah near Fayetteville Scptc-niber 1-7, 1983. This was a fall when the lake level was low, exposing mudflats where this bird was seen. Baerg (1951) considered "somewhat doubtful" the report of a bird in Benton County on April 30, 1947.

Sanderling, Calidris alba.
Rare transient. Single birds were seen regularly at Lake Sequoyah August 3 - September 7, 1983. At the same location 1-3 birds were seen August 29 - September 19, 1982. The birds were observed on mudflats exposed when the lake's water level was low. One was seen at Centerton on May 17, 1986, and one at the Springdale wastewater plant ponds on August 5, 1987. Three were at Centerton on May 10, 1988.
