Extinct. Once a plentiful transient and winter visitor in the region. Last reported in about 1900 (see Howell 1911, Schorger 1955). Passenger Pigeon bones were recovered from the cellar of the historic Ridge House in Fayetteville during archaeological work (Jurney 1978).

Carolina Parakeet, Conuropsis carolinensis.
Extinct. Apparently common in the region at one time, but exterminated by the 1870s or 1880s (Howell 1911, McKinley and James 1985).
