Ovenbird, Seiurus aurocapillus.
April 7 to October 8. Common summer resident in very extensive, mature, open forest at high elevations. This species is common in those places where the forest is continuous, especially so in the Ozark National Forest, Buffalo National River, and elsewhere. During the migration periods Ovenbirds are widespread, utilizing all types of smaller, forested areas. The high numbers possible in proper habitats are illustrated by the Breeding Bird Survey conducted during June each year in Newton County. During the period 1967-1979, as many as 33 birds were counted along 25 miles of upland forests, with a 10 year annual mean of 22.6 birds. This contrasts with a similar survey conducted in Benton County that covers mostly open country with only scattered tracts of broken forest. Ovenbirds were almost never found in this situation.

Common Yellowthroat, Geothlypis trichas.
April 10 to October 14+. Common migrant and summer resident.

Yellow-breasted Chat, Icteria virens.
April 16 to October 2. Common summer resident in the thickets of overgrown fields. There are very few reports for this species after late August.
