Song Sparrow, Melospiza melodia.
October 7 to May 2+. Common migrant and winter resident in all sorts of dense, moist vegetation. Black (1935) stated that the species nested "rarely" at Winslow. No other nesting records are known for the area.

Swamp Sparrow, Melospiza georgiana.
September 23 to May 12. Common migrant and fairly common winter resident. Inhabits marshy places, especially edges of ponds and reservoirs.

Vesper Sparrow, Pooecetes gramineus.
October 14 to April 28. Regular migrant in small numbers and very uncommon winter resident. It was found on only four Christmas Bird Counts held at Fayetteville, 1971-1985. It seems to be present chiefly in fall until about mid-November and in spring from about mid-March and thereafter.
