Bobolink, Dolichonyx oryzivorus.
April 28 to May 23, plus three fall records: August 31, September 1, and September 13. Uncommon but regular spring transient, rare fall transient. The number of records of this species during spring migration are surprisingly few. The only place where they have been found consistently are alfalfa fields a few miles west and southwest of Harrison.

Eastern Meadowlark, Sturnella magna.
Common permanent resident.

Western Meadowlark, Sturnella neglecta.
October 16 to March 19. Regular winter resident in small numbers. The superficial differences between this and the preceding species are slight; most birds seen are probably Easterns. However, on occasion a meadowlark can be heard and seen that is singing the Western song or giving the "chup" call note. Many such records have been obtained in the fields and feedlots at the University Farm near Fayetteville, with additional records scattered elsewhere in the region.
