Lake Atalanta is a beautiful park tucked into a hollow just east of downtown Rogers.
It offers year-round easy birding. There are two trails at the park and a road around the lake.
This is a great time of year to bird the lake. We should see songbirds, waterfowl and shorebirds.
If the jewel weed is blooming, we may see lots of hummingbirds.
From historic downtown Rogers, follow Walnut Street EAST. Look for Lake Atalanta a half mile east of the railroad crossing.
We will meet in the parking lot on the north side of Walnut Street.
You are also welcome to join us for more birding at the State Fish Hatchery in Centerton.
After birding Lake Atalanta for 2 to 3 hours, we head to Centerton to look for shorebirds, waterfowl, and other interesting birds.
The ponds at the hatchery provide an excellent stopping-off place where migratory birds can feed and rest.
