Purpose and Objective

Sigma Gamma Epsilon was established to recognize scholarship and professionalism in the Earth Sciences. It has for its objectives the scholastic, scientific, and professional advancement of its members and the extension of relations of friendship and assistance among colleges and universities which are devoted to the advancement of the Earth Sciences.

Yearly activities of Sigma Gamma Epsilon include the scheduling of the Geosciences Departmental colloquium, the making and selling of rock bags made available to students of the general geology courses at the University of Arkansas, and roadside clean ups along Highway 74 near Devil's Den State Park. The society also has an annual Christmas party and Spring Banquet. The society works closely with the University of Arkansas Geology and Geography clubs. Faculty and members of those clubs are welcome to participate in the majority of our activities.
