Assistantship

Responsibilities
  • Teach and assist with direction and coordination of either the front ensemble or battery percussion sections of the Razorback Marching Band.
  • Arrange music and technique development exercises for front ensemble and battery sections of the Razorback Marching Band.
  • Assist with teaching of undergraduate percussion majors and non-major applied lessons.
  • Assist in coordination of percussion ensembles, including directing and arranging opportunities with steel band program.
  • Perform in and assist in supervising the percussion sections of large performance ensembles.
  • Assist with instruction of percussion methods courses.
  • Assist in maintenance and inventory management of all percussion equipment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in music, with an emphasis in percussion.
  • Previous teaching experience at the high school or university level in marching percussion, percussion ensemble, and steel band are highly preferred, but not requried.
  • On campus audition and interview are preferred, but alternate arrangements can be made.

Degrees Offered
M.M. in performance, music education, composition, theory, instrumental and choral conducting, and music history.
