Enhanced Learning Center
The ELC provides
programs and services to help students reach their highest level
of academic success. To ensure student success, the Center administers
a variety of integrated programs, including tutoring, supplemental
instruction, study skills workshops, and math and writing resources.
Tutoring Centers
Math Resource & Tutoring Center
The Math Center offers one-on-one tutoring with faculty and graduate
students. Computer software, peer tutoring, and reference books
are available. The center is open 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday
and Wednesday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday,
and Friday in Science Engineering 206. Information: 5-7661. Web

The Quality Writing Center
Located in Kimpel Hall 315 and 319, the Writing Center provides
students, faculty, and staff with a resource for improving writing
of all kinds. The Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
A computer lab is available for writing tasks in KH 319. Information:

Departmental Services
Anthropology
Students are welcome to visit with professors or graduate students
during office hours and by appointment. Information: 5-2508.
Chemistry & Biochemistry
The Resource Room located in Chemistry Building 224 assists students
interested in receiving tutorial help from the department. Information:

Foreign Languages
Special help in foreign languages can be found in the Language Learning
Lab in KH 204. Computer programs, CD-Roms, supplemental audio tapes,
video presentations, and e-mail and Internet access are available.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. A list of tutors

Geosciences
Faculty members will set up appointments to help students having
difficulties in courses. Information: 5-3159.
History
Professors and teaching assistants welcome questions during office
hours. Contact your teacher for an appointment. Information: 5-3001.
Music
Teachers of theory classes are available during office hours for
consultation. Also, other students tutor for a nominal fee. Information:

Philosophy
Graduate teaching assistants offer tutoring upon request. Students
are encouraged to meet with faculty during office hours for further
assistance. Information: 5-3551.
Physics
The faculty and graduate students of the department have regular
office hours to assist students. Additional tutoring is available
from the Society of Physics Students; their e-mail address is socphys@uark.edu.

Political Science

The department offers tutoring for general sociology courses. Contact

Other Services
SOAR (Student Outreach and Academic Resources)
University Housing provides free tutoring and computer labs for
all resident hall students. Information: 8-3843 in Reid Hall, 8-1075
in Pomfret, 8-3202 in Humphreys, and 8-2402 in Futrall.
Student Support Services
Student Support Services is a federally funded program intended
to provide academic support services to targeted student populations.
Services include free tutoring, one-on-one academic counseling,
instruction in study skills, and financial aid counseling. Student
development specialists meet with students throughout the semester
to help them adjust to college academic requirements. SSS is located
