Fayetteville Animal Shelter
and Animal Services
Long-time shelter head Lib Horn has retired--sort of.
The city set up a graduated retirement program for Lib, whereby she works half-time for the next year. She has an office in another building now and is working on finding grant money for the city.
Right: Lib Horn holds Houston, the mayor's dog, while (former) Mayor Fred Hanna reads a proclamation for National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week on November 3.
Lib, who came to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter in 1987, stayed until midnight her first day, cleaning. It was the old shelter back then. Things have continued to improve since then, thanks to support from the city, the citizens, and the Humane Society of the Ozarks (HSO). It's been "a wonderful trip," Lib says.
The citizens of Fayetteville, human and otherwise, owe Lib a lot for our wonderful shelter. Though we will miss seeing her at the shelter, we look forward to seeing her around town.
