Poetry Readings

On the last Tuesday of every month (except December) OPWC features regional and nationally acclaimed poets. An open mic for audience members is a vital part of the evening.

We're now meeting at Nightbird Books in Fayetteville's Mill District, Sixth Street at U.S. 71B. All ages once again are welcome to the Collective program, but be cautioned that the language and themes of contemporary poetry can be raw. Nightbird and the Collective on our night will offer for sale or donation a variety of snacks and beverages. Nightbird's books and gifts will be for sale as well. Featured readers often offer their books and chapbooks (and sometimes CDs and DVDs) for sale, and are happy to autograph them.

Coming up: 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, Fayetteville's ever-popular -- for good reason -- Brenda Moossy

Upcoming Events

  • Tuesday, Sept. 30, we welcome back story writer Molly Giles.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 28, the legendary Rachel Hadas.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 25, Franz Baskett, a well-published poet who spent years in Fayetteville and returned earlier this year.

Nightbird BooksThe collective is proud to have as a host Fayetteville's locally owned independent bookstore Nightbird, 557 S. School Ave., No. 103. It is a member the American Booksellers Association, with access to the collected wisdom and experience of the Book Sense network of independent bookstores across the United States.

Nightbird Books and the Collective on our night will offer for sale or donation a variety of snacks and beverages. All ages are welcome at Nightbird Books!
