Last Call Classic Tournament

University of Arkansas debaters again scored impressive victories in a regional tournament featuring schools from Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana, the "Last Call Classic," held at the University of Arkansas-Monticello on March 25-26. Arkansas was ranked First Place in the Novice Division and received the Second Place Sweepstakes Trophy for the tournament.

Arkansas Union Society members dominated the final rounds of the tournament. Mark Lowery received the Top Novice Speaker trophy and was one of four University of Arkansas debaters to reach the Quarter-final rounds in the Novice Division. Courtney Campbell received the Second Place Novice Speaker trophy and reached the Semi-final round of competition. Leah Potts received the trophy for Fourth Place Novice Speaker, and Robin Miller was ranked Tenth. The final round was an All-Arkansas affair, with Potts winning the division championship round in a 2-1 decision over teammate Robin Miller, who received the Second Place Trophy.

In the Open Division, Gary Moody reached the Championship round, finishing second, and also received the trophy for Fourth Place Outstanding Speaker, while Bill Horton was ranked as Ninth Best Speaker.

Stephen Smith reached the Semi-final round in the Professional Division and received the trophy for Fifth Speaker.
