Northern Bayberry

Flowers: Not showy, dioecious, yellowish catkins, in early spring before the leaves emerge.

Foliage: Bright to dull green foliage, aromatic when crushed.

Fruit: Gray waxy berries borne on female plants, persist through winter and make a good I.D. clue.

Location: Male plant in the garden by the Rosen Alternative Pest Control building.
