GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Young- symmetrical pyramid, as it ages becoming more horizontal, plume-like
outline, fast growing pine.
ADAPTABILITY:
Best in fertile, moist well drained soils, takes some shade, prefers full sun,
susceptible to wind damage, not pollution tolerant.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen, shade tree, screen, hedge.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Salt spray, ocean spray sensitive, chlorosis in high pH soils. White pine blister
rust (alternate host is currant), white pine weevil.

Northcentral and northeast United States and Canada
