GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Produces long, relatively unbranched shoots, open form. Suckers from base and
spreads rapidly.
ADAPTABILITY:
Does well in moist, well-drained soils. Prefers sun or partial shade.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen, shrub border, screen.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Prune out old growth as most vivid stem color is found on new twigs. Canker
is a problem in warmer zones. Scale insects may require spraying for control.

SUBSPECIES, VARIETIES, CULTIVARS:
'Argenteo-marginata- leaves with a white variegated margin. 'Bloodgood'- selected

Cornus sericea (syn. stolonifera) is very similar in appearance
and use in the landscape.
