GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Large, multistemmed shrub or small tree, rounded to oval outline. Grows to 20+
feet.
ADAPTABILITY:
Prefers well-drained soil high in organic material, not tolerant of wet soils.
FUNCTIONS:
Screen, hedge, specimen, can be trained as a small tree. Site against dark background
to accentuate early flowers.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Flower buds are winter-killed in colder zones.

Southeastern Europe and western Asia
USEFUL RANGE (USDA Zones):
Zones 5-8
SUBSPECIES, VARIETIES, CULTIVARS:
'Alba' and 'Flava' are white and yellow fruited clones respectively. 'Golden
Glory' -selected, floriferous clone for the Midwest. 'Spring Glow'- better adapted
to Zones 7 and 8, needs less chilling to flower, vigorous.
