GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Upright and spreading, becoming leggy at base, to 15 feet, vigorous grower.
ADAPTABILITY:
Tolerates deep shade, grows best in full sun. This species adaptability is its
biggest problem.

PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Spreads into and colonizes woodlands as an understory shrub. Evidence of this
invasive nature is everywhere present in the area surrounding campus. Chokes
out native plants. Should not be used in the landscape. Should be removed if
present. Unfortunately, this plant is used frequently on the U of A campus.
