GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Upright and spreading- oval to rounded crown, pendulous branchlets with upturned
tips.
ADAPTABILITY:
Does best in moist soils, slightly acid. Very fast grower. Adapts to dry sites.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade tree, one of the best trees for poor sites, but still not a tree to use
in the landscape because of problems.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Anthracnose is a major disease. Tree is weak wooded and shallow rooted, tendency
to fall over in storms, crushing houses, cars and humans.
