GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
With age, broad topped with ascending and arching branches.
ADAPTABILITY:
Adapted to cold, heat, dryness and wind. Tolerates alkaline soils. Prefers rich,
moist, well drained soils.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade, street or avenue tree; good for large areas.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Nipple gall- on leaves, usually does not require spraying. Witches' broom- proliferation
of many small branches from a single point-caused by a mite.
