GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Round headed tree, varying forms, some are upright and spreading. Varies tremendously
in size.
ADAPTABILITY:
Moist, well drained soils, pH adaptable. Does well in urban areas.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade tree, specimen.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Resistant to Dutch elm disease, less susceptible to elm leaf and Japanese beetles.
Prone to ice storm damage. May require initial pruning to desired tree form.
Seeds into areas where it is not desired.
