Welcome Back to Greek!

Welcome back!
We are reading Greek! This term we will continue with our grammar and vocabulary adventure in the language of the ancient Greeks, using From Alpha to Omega by Anne Groton, along with the Ancillary Exercises, bu Jon Bruss. We alwo will make use of Greek Paradigm Handbook, by Geannikis, Romiti, and Wilford. In addtion, students will have the abridged Greek-English Lexicon, by Liddell and Scott. A real Greek lexicon at last! All texts should be in the U of A Bookstore.
I am committed to doing my utmost to help you to learn Greek, and to enjoy the process.
This term we will move more slowly, in order to solidify what we have learned, and to learn new things well. You will see from the Schedule below that we plan to review for the first week, and then to complete fewer chapters in our textbook than than last term. Students continuing next fall will complete the last chapters in the first half of Greek 2003, and read New Testament Greek in the second half of the semester.
This slower pace will allow us to spend more time on the stories at the end of each chapter, so we will be doing more with 'real Greek' throughout the semester. That's great!
Homework will be assigned for each class, but students will seldom hand it in.
Each class will end with a short quizlet of five to seven minutes, covering the material assigned as homework.
Bad Weather Policy. Your instructor will be here when the University is open. If a student is prevented by weather from reaching class, the absence will be excused, and the work will be made up without penalty.
Grades are weighted towards daily participation and daily short quizlets: Class participation (40%), Daily Quizlets (40%), Secret Word Presentations (10%), Final Learning Opportunity (10%).
