A few suggestions about how to do well in a philosophy class:

• Read the material before we talk about it in class (keep a few pages ahead) [put question marks in the margin where there are points that are confusing].
• Come to class, pay attention, and take notes.
• After class review what went on in class to be sure you understand it.
• Re-read the selections talked about to see if they make more sense.
• Before the next class, review the notes/reading again so that when the teacher starts talking, you're already up to speed.
• If you have questions about the reading or material, ask them of the teacher (office hours, e-mail).
