The Northwest Arkansas Community Information Network project, Aladdin, is a joint effort between the University of Arkansas and community members with an interest in improving access to the information that affects our daily lives: politics, education, environment, and more, by making it available online through the Internet.
The Aladdin project was initiated
by former University of Arkansas Chancellor Dan Ferritor and John Lewis, President
of the Bank of Fayetteville, and UA National Development Council member. A demonstration
project -- a community information kiosk -- is housed in the lobby of the Bank
of Fayetteville and also accessible through the Internet. Participants in
the project come from various areas, including the arts, community services,
education, government, and community development.

Including and in addition to this
core group, a planning council will be established within the community to assess
the following major areas to enable the full development and growth of the community
network project:
As you can see, the network is in its early stages of development, and its content is still developing. But with community participation, the network can become whatever "you" want it to be. Share your vision. Get connected. Let's communicate and shape our future collectively.
