Objective: The Students will be able to identify our current state and national leaders, and relate two specific details about them.

Set: Talk about leaders that the students interact with and can identify. (Principal, Vice-principal)

Materials: Resources that will be found on the current leaders.

Activities: Class will discuss the positions of state and federal government and the people who currently hold those positions. Students will also go to the library or to the computer lab to find information, and write a short report about one of the above officials. (Teachers set the parameters of report)
        Extension: Have students find out by research who holds local offices.

Closure: Review with oral quiz over positions and current holders of them.

Assessment: Use rubric to score the report. The rubric should be discussed with the students before the assignment being completed.
