The D.E. E. King Equine Program.  Opportunities are available for; students, volunteers, educators, trainers, sponsors and many more.  Local equestrian scene information is also included so, go ahead, look around!

summer interns get razorback roundup in gear  Each spring the selection processEquine Program Summer Interns - click to enlarge begins for the Razorback Roundup horse sale to be conducted the following fall.  Once the selection process is complete, summer interns will begin prepping the horses.  This process includes fitting, addressing health and nutritional issues, grooming and many photography sessions.  The photographs will be used in the online and paper catalogs for marketing purposes.  Once classes start up in August, students enrolled in "Principles of Equine Behavior & Training" will begin training the horses.  Meticulous journals are kept regarding each horses progress and accomplishments.  Also noted are any problems that may occur, how they are handled and the outcome.  The journals are made available on sale day for all prospective buyers to view.  The sale is conducted by students of "Principles of Equine Behavior & Training" as well as "Horse & Livestock Merchandising".  This year's sale will be held on November 15 at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Arena in Fayetteville.  Pictured above are summer interns from left to right; Alyssa Rucker, Tim Troia, Caitlin Barnett, Brianne Sharp, Chris Moorehead and Ann Bartlett.

FIELD TRIP UA students and staff of the D. E. King EquineUA Students on field trip - click to enlarge Program took a field trip to the Palomino World Show July 24 in Tulsa. The day trip included a visit to Cargile Arabian Farm, located near Tulsa. Cargile are breeders of rare, homozygous black Arabians. Staff & students of the D. E. equine newsline list-serv  The Equine Newsline mail list presently serves over 1,000 members and utilizes the University of Arkansas' List-Serv for all notices.  The List-Serv is used to send news of upcoming events and subjects of interest to horse enthusiasts.  Notices are sent out about once each month.  It is a public service provided by the D.E.
