Students will take seven quizzes during the semester. For those who have taken six or seven quizzes, the lowest or two lowest grades will be dropped. Students who have taken only five quizzes will not be penalized, and no explanation or written excuse need be presented. There are only two cases in which students may make up a quiz: if an extracurricular event sponsored by the University requires the student’s participation; or if a serious illness necessitates that the student be absent from class over a period of weeks. In both cases students will need to furnish a note from their teacher, coach, or doctor before making up the work missed.
Students who are planning to travel over the break between semesters should be careful to schedule their departure after the final exam, which is scheduled for December 13, 8:30-10:00.
