Japanese language students of the University of Arkansas have opportunities to participate in varieties of programs to study or work in Japan. There are many annual and summer study/work-in-Japan programs, as well as scholarship programs, for which U of A students can apply. The U of A actively works with educational institutions in Japan, and new study/work-in-Japan programs will become available anytime in the near future.

With the substantial growth of the Japanese Program in recent years, selection of study-in-Japan program applicants has become extremely competitive. It is strongly advisable for students interested in studying in Japan to:

Begin collecting information at least one year in advance;

Begin to act during their enrollment in Elementary Japanese or above;

Initiate contact with the Office of Study Abroad early;

Initiate connections with their professors early;

Initiate contact with previous participants;

Initiate contact with exchange students from Japan.
