Target Audience

This website offers activities for students at several different levels. It has been designed so that 1st year
language students can navigate and gather information. On several occasions, students are provided
with the opportunity to investigate issues futher. In some cases, further investigation requires intermediate
to advanced language skills. (Examples: audio exercises, research papers)

 

Objectives:

  1. Provide students with a cultural and history lesson using Poitiers, France as an example city.
  2. Show students ways to survive daily life in France making the experience of studying in a foreign country less overwhelming.
  3. Give helpful websites that are easy to navigate to students so that they will have a conglomeration of resources in case they want to visit or study in Poitiers.

 

Teacher Strategies:

 

Evaluation:

Students should be required to answer post questions to assess what they learned through the various activities. Advanced students should also be required to select an element of Poitiers either culture, history, food, religion, etc. and work in small groups to provide a class presentation. The website incorporates different activities using computer related software such as Javascript making interactive multiple choice exercises, audio listening activities, as well as links to many sites about Poitiers providing untold amounts of information.
