Le Parc Futuroscope was built approximately 10 years ago by the architect, Denis Laming. It is

approximately 10 to 15 minutes driving distance from Poitiers. Buses from Centre Ville go to the

park. The park has an IMAX style flare to it with 3D images, virtual reality simulators, and high

tech communication technology. The park offers several attractions which change periodically.

La Rochelle is the capital of Charente-Maritime. It was once France's most valuable seaport. Today

it is still used as a port but is known for a city rich in history and culture. La Rochelle is approximately

one hour's driving distance from Poitiers. Students wishing to travel there should look for postings at

the Université de Poitiers. Often group trips there will be organized. Being on the coast, La Rochelle has

lovely beaches. The city is a must see for anyone visiting the area. La Rochelle also has an excellent aquarium

that only costs about 7 Euros for students. The city provides many interesting places!!

 

 

 

 

 

La Rochelle

The Valley de la Loire is a very beautiful region known for its beautiful gardens and châteaus, The region is

often called the "Garden of France" for this reason. Of the châteaus, the most beautiful is considered by many to

be Chenonceau. This particular château was built during the Renaissance period of French architecture. It spans

the river Cher. The château was originally built in 1521 but was added to and changed by several important women

including Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers. This too is a must see for anyone visiting the area. Trips can be
