Capital City

Cienfuegos (pop.135,000 )

Population

380,000

Cienfuegos is Cuba's smallest province and also its least populated. However, the capital city is one of the island's largest industrial centers. The port is home to the world's largest sugar-exporting facility. Shrimp fishing, shipbuilding, a paper mill, an oil refinery, and a thermoelectric plant also have their home in Cienfuegos. Much of the rural areas are dedicated to sugarcane and coffee cultivation.
