Population

715,000

Pinar del Río is the third largest province and also the western most. It borders Havana Province on the east side and water on all other sides. The central area is marked by a mountain range with plains to the north and south. The fertile soils support sugarcane, rice, orange and grapefruit trees, and most notably tobacco. Cuba's finest cigars are made with tobacco from this region, which has been there since the 18th century.
