Sancti Spíritus (pop. 80,000)

Population

445,000

Sancti Spíritus is the historic capital of Cuba. It is home to two preserved colonial towns, the capital and Trinidad. Tourists come from all over to walk the cobble stone streets while traditional music plays in the background. Trinidad is also home to one of Cuba's finest beaches, Playa Ancon.

The economy is centered on sugarcane cultivation in the south. Rice is grown along the southern coast, while tobacco dominates the center.
