ZÓCALO: Las cosas relacionadas

While the zócalo is popular and you will find many people there, especially during the weekends, there are other areas of town that are just as popular for very similar reasons. Most towns of any size will have two or more plazas, not including the zócalo. Some towns have the zócalo and another plaza right next to it. On the weekends these plazas will be filled with "puestos", "vendedores", and a lot of activities for the family.
Another "relative" is the "mercado"or market; many times it will be called an "open-air" market, even though it is in apermanent buildings. Here you may bargain, as in the zócalo, and sometimes you will find things not available elsewhere or at a lower price.
One of my favorite "relatives" is the "Tiangues". This is a traveling market. Each day it will move to a different location. Here you will find a variety of items, from leather to cloth to toys to food. Most of the time the items are local, but sometimes you will find items from other countries.

Actividades:

You will design a "puesto" for a "mercado" or the "tiangues". Tell where you would place your "puesto" and what you will sell. Describe the contents of your "puesto". Why did you choose your stock, where did it come from, is it "hecho a mano" (handmade), how much would you like to receive for it and will you bargain any?. You will label all parts in Spanish. The minimum size will be 1 sheet of posterboard. It may be 3-D or some other format.
