The following goals have been adopted to fulfill the mission of this Center.

Goal 1.

Determine interaction and bioavailability of critical nutrients in foods.

Goal 2.

Evaluate diet-disease relationships.

Goal 3.

Determine the cellular and genetic mechanisms that underlie optimal functions and/or nutrient requirements and phytochemical bioaction, and that serve as reliable indications of nutritional status.

Goal 4.

Develop indicators of factors related to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Goal 5.

Develop and implement technology transfer techniques to keep consumers informed about nutrition issues and to assist industry in developing value-added products promoting health.
