Industry Impact

The Ozark Food Processors Association (OFPA) represents a major processing center in the United States, with a multi-billion dollar pack. Food Processing is the major employer in the region. The food processing industry is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world. We are extremely proud of the growth of this industry over the years, and the tremendous contributions the food industry has made to agriculture and total economic base in this region of the United States.

Food processing is a highly sophisticated industry and its continued growth depends on the availability of technical manpower. Through individual as well as collective contributions of its members and associate members, the Association is a strong supporter of the research program at the University of Arkansas. The OFPA  recognizes this vital need and annually awards 10-15 scholarships to students majoring in Food Science at the University of Arkansas. The food industry provides the greatest example where advances in science and technology are constantly utilized in serving the basic needs of the people.
