“My internship in Scotland was a once in a lifetime experience. I would absolutely recommend it to others.”
Kameron Sullivan, a senior in the pre-vet animal science department, was one of three animal science students who participated in summer internships at the Scottish Agricultural College near Edinburgh. Sullivan worked with the Animal Health Group at SAC’s animal research location at the Bush Estate. Other students included Helen Wicks and Kristen Byrne.
Sullivan was involved in a variety of research projects, including studies to control anthelmintic resistant parasites in sheep and para-tuberculosis in rabbits and cattle. Working under the supervision of Jos Moudijk, Sullivan was involved in both field and laboratory research activities.
“The internship in Scotland was an amazing experience,” Sullivan said. “The rules, laws and research approaches are so different from those in the U.S. It was well worth the effort.”
A graduate of Prairie Grove High School, Sullivan received one of the Cordia Harrington “The Bun Lady” International Experience Endowed Scholarships to help finance his travel expenses.
