Dr. Gyles' 33 years of service in the poultry science community has been highlighted by many significant projects. His work helped to lay the foundation for such critical areas as feed conversion, fertility, growth rate, and the genetic mechanism for controlling tumor regression. He participated in the first successful program to eradicate Mycoplasma gallisepticum from a commercial flock. Dr. Gyles' work and interaction with the commercial industry has lead to a UA patent with Embre, Inc., in the area of viral disease management. Dr. Gyles has been a distinguished member on many national and international committees as well as numerous University and College committees. Dr. Gyles represented the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences as a guest lecturer in the Oxford Scholars Lecture Series.
