C. DAYTON STEELMAN
ENTOMOLOGIST
DEPARTMENT OF ENTOMOLOGY

Dr. Steelman conducts research under approved Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station and Animal Health Project 1552, "Epidemiology of Poultry Diseases Transmitted by insects and Management of Vecto Populations." The objectives of the research are 1) to determine epidemiological factors contributing to the transmission of organisms causing disease in poultry and man by the lesser mealworm (litter beetle) and filth flies; 2) to determine biological interactions among Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Infectious Bursal Disease Virus, and Reovirus and the lesser mealworm; 3) to determine pesticide efficacy, biological control agent potential, and habitat management methods for insect vector populations. The research involves cooperative studies with Drs. Clark, R. Moore, Skeeles, A. Waldroup, and Wideman. Dr. Steelman teaches ENTO 4134, Insect Pest Management II, which coves Biology, Economic Impacts, and Integrated Pest Management of arthropods affective livestock and poultry production.
