Ernestine Gibson - The Nurturer

Ernestine W. Gibson arrived in Fayetteville, AR on December 5, 1975. She attended Arkansas State University where she met her husband of 30 years, Robert Gibson III. She worked for GMAC for 17 years as a Customer Service Specialist. Her tenure started at the University of Arkansas in March, 2003 as a receptionist for University Housing. In May 2004, she moved to SSS.

She has been involved with the Martin Luther King Planning Committee since its inception, 9 years. She also has the distinction of being a charter member of both Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Eta Upsilon undergraduate chapter and Phi Alpha Omega graduate chapter.

She has a daughter, Deanna, who is a women’s basketball coach and a son, Robert IV and a daughter-in-law, Dionne who live in Las Vegas. The pride of her life is her grandson, Robert Gibson V who is now 1 year old. He is one of the babies featured in the new book by Anne Geddes entitled “Miracle with Celine Dion” holding him. What a legacy!

Mrs. Gibson is completing her undergraduate degree in May 2005 in Adult Education. She wants to continue her education and get a master’s in Adult Education as well.
