Cross Hollows Loop Trail

Cross Hollows is an historic site at the intersection of Old Wire Road and Cross Hollows Road in South-east Rogers.  Some of the location's fame is recounted on a Civil War Historical Marker now prominently displayed on the south-east corner.  Click here to read the text of the marker as it was being refurbished.

For geographical depiction of the proposed loop trail, we offer several complementary map views.  The route comprises sections of three unpaved roads through a nearly unspoiled area, totaling nearly four miles.

The map below on this page is a clip from ADEQ's Monte Ne and Hickory Creek Watersheds Land Use Map.  The red vertical line is Hwy 71 B.  The "Loop" is the triangle of Old Wire Rd. (N-S), Cross Hollows Rd., and Stoney Point Rd. Cross Hollows Rd. parallels Monte Ne Branch.  Land use appears to be minimally invasive - so far!

Road names - but not land use - are shown on the Rogers Area Heritage Trail Map (in the southeast quadrant). Click here to view a clip from the big HT map: The dark red line is Old Wire Rd., the Heritage Trail "backbone." CrossHollowsClip-HeritageTrailMap.jpg

Click here for a more inclusive perspective view via a larger clip from the Rogers Trails planning map, extending to Monte Ne Bay.  CrossHollows-MonteNeArea-sg.jpg   The map includes convenient Section, Township and Range coordinate marks, allowing trail segment lengths to be estimated using a ruler on your screen. Approximate distances in miles, counter-clockwise around the triangle from the historical marker at the intersection: ENE on Cross Hollows Rd., 1.5; WNW on Stoney Point Rd., 1.6; and S on Old Wire, 0.8.
