Not-So-New Faculty Luncheons

Peer Consultation

While there are many excellent teachers at the University of Arkansas, all can benefit from an appraisal of their classroom practices.

Those interested in examining their classroom teaching are invited to work with the Center's staff who will assist in obtaining information about his/her teaching.

Staff can provide relevant quantitative and qualitative data through class observation, videotaping, student interviews, questionnaires, reviewing student ratings, or other techniques designed specifically for particular courses.

The Co-Directors can help interpret the information and suggest alternative classroom techniques, as desired.

Teaching Assessment

Center Staff can assist instructors in assessing student learning, classroom practices, and teaching effectiveness. The staff can assist with various means of obtaining mid-course feedback (evaluating student progress as well as teacher effectiveness) to be used for instructional assessment.

Course Planning and Development

Instructors who are developing new course materials, syllabi, or instructional programs, or who are revising existing ones, may enlist the consultation of Center staff to assist in all phases of design and implementation.

Book Club

Periodically the Center sponsors a book club, which is open to all faculty members who teach.

A small group of faculty meet 4 to 6 times a semester to discuss a book and its instructional implications.
