Human Resource Development (HRDV)
Non-Cohort Courses:
Applied and Technical Courses

Workforce Development Education Programs
Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources and Communication Disorders
College of Education and Health Professions
University of Arkansas
Fayetteville, Arkansas

Undergraduate Human Resource Development (HRDV) students are required to complete at least 15 credit hours of non-cohort course work.  Non-cohort courses consist of Applied and online courses for Technical requirements.

Applied courses, all numbered HRDV 4603-4693, are practical implementations of the theories, principles, and techniques of HRD from their prerequisite HRDV Conceptual courses.  Each Applied course has its own prerequisite HRDV Concept course. Any two General and any two Specific 3-hour HRDV Applied courses will satisfy the 12-hour HRDV Applied requirement. Additional HRDV Applied courses above the 12-hour minimum can count toward HRDV Technical requirements.  HRDV Applied courses are offered in various semesters during the school year (schedule below). The prerequisite HRDV Concept course and its Applied course cannot be taken in the same semester.

Three online non-cohort HRDV courses are taken to satisfy Technical requirements in the HRD plan of study.  HRDV 3403 Employment Law is required for graduation.  HRDV 3503 Workforce Behavior is optional for Technical credit, but a prerequisite for HRDV 450V Experiential Learning, which is how credit can be awarded for professional certifications or training reviewed by the American Council on Education.

All General Education and transfer Technical Requirements should be complete or in progress before taking any Applied or non-cohort course to ensure U of A Residency Requirements will be met. This Applied course and its prerequisite Cohort course cannot be taken in the same semester.
